Nudism -- it's like being in the shower, but you're probably outside, you're not covered in soap, and everyone is staring at your genitals. And despite that not sounding fun, nudism has a dedicated following. To learn more about what the heck being a nudist is actually like, we spoke to Mark Haskell Smith, who stripped down and wrote about his adventures being completely naked all over the world in his hilarious new book Naked at Lunch. With his dermatologist's horrifying tales of scrotum skin cancer echoing in his head, he sprayed his whole body with waterproof SPF sunscreen.
Naturists also known as nudists live their lives freely in every sense of the word. They are most known for living life sans clothes, which sometimes gives them a bad rap. But, believe it or not, there is much more to being a nudist than simply the desire to live a clothing-free life. It is a culture. Some noted naturist ideals include a love for the environment, health, spirituality , equality and liberty.
